The newfound appreciation and potential of wood as a building material is reflected in a growing number of outstanding contemporary timber structures, many of which have been made possible by digital design tools in combination with numerically controlled manufacturing processes. An equally important contribution to this renaissance of wood architecture has been made by technological developments in wood-based materials. In our book “Rethinking Wood – Future Dimensions of Timber Assembly “ we wanted to share these innovations in a compilation of contributions by various authors on innovative methods of using the building material wood in architecture.
